Titus 01.10-16 “10 For
there are many rebellious men, empty talkers & deceivers, especially those
of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole
families, teaching things they should not teach
for the sake of sordid gain. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own,
said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony
is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the
faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish myths & commandments of men who
turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who
are defiled & unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind & their
conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable & disobedient &
worthless for any good deed.”
So this morning we will be
looking at the threat of Dominion Theology. 01. Dominionism Defined; 02. The Roots of
Dominionism 03. Modern Day Dominionism
01. Dominionism Defined
It is also known as Kingdom Now,
Latter Rain Movement, Manifest Sons of God, New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)
Dominion Theology is the belief
that when God created everything, He then gave Adam & Eve legal authority
over the earth.
They base this theology
primarily off of 02 verses:
Genesis 01.26 “26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image,
according to Our likeness; & let them rule over the fish of the sea &
over the birds of the sky & over the cattle & over all the earth, &
over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””
Genesis 01.28 “28 God blessed them; & God said to them, “Be
fruitful & multiply, & fill the earth, & subdue it; & rule over
the fish of the sea & over the birds of the sky & over every living
thing that moves on the earth.””
It is very clear that in these
02 passages, God WAS NOT giving legal authority over the earth. A better
description would be that of a steward, an administrator. Nowhere in the Bible
do we see that God transferred the rule of the earth over to Adam & Eve.
If that was true, then we could
not agree w/the Bible when it talks about God ruling & reigning over all
the earth, being LORD of all.
For example, we see that the
LORD claims that He owns everything.
Psalms 50.10-12 “10 “For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle
on a thousand hills. 11 “I know every bird of the mountains, And everything
that moves in the field is Mine. 12 “If I were hungry I would not tell you, For
the world is Mine, & all it contains.”

Dominion
Theology can be summed up in 03 points:
01.
Satan usurped man’s dominion over the earth through the temptation & sin of
Adam & Eve.
02.
The Church is God’s instrument to take dominion back from Satan
03.
Jesus cannot or will not return until the Church has taken dominion by gaining
control of the earth’s governmental & social institutions.
What those who believe in
Dominion Theology do is they take the Text out of Context, thus forming a
Pretext for a Proof Text (DA Carson).
Dominion of the earth still
belongs to the LORD:
1Chronicles 29.11 “11 “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness & the power &
the glory & the victory & the majesty, indeed everything that is in the
heavens & the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, & You exalt
Yourself as head over all.”
Daniel 04.03 “3 “How great are His signs And how mighty are His
wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom And His dominion is from
generation to generation.”
Revelation 05.13 “13 And every created thing which is in heaven & on
the earth & under the earth & on the sea, & all things in them, I
heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, & to the Lamb, be blessing & honor & glory &
dominion forever & ever.””
Here are other verses that state
clearly that the LORD has Dominion of the earth even now. (Job 25.02; Psalm 103.22; Psalm 114.02;
Psalm 145.13;
Daniel 04.34;
Daniel 06.26;
Daniel 07.14;
Daniel 07.27;
Zechariah 09.10; 1Peter 04.11; 1Peter 05.10-11; Revelation 01.06)
