Titus 01.10-16 “10 For
there are many rebellious men, empty talkers & deceivers, especially those
of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole
families, teaching things they should not teach
for the sake of sordid gain. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own,
said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony
is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the
faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish myths & commandments of men who
turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who
are defiled & unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind & their
conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable & disobedient &
worthless for any good deed.”
I felt like that I should have
been more clear regarding to what the Bible says in contradiction to what TD
Jakes believes as a Modalist.
Here is a simple explanation for
the Trinity in a picture. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b3/Shield-Trinity-Scutum-Fidei-English.svg/220px-Shield-Trinity-Scutum-Fidei-English.svg.png&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinity&h=198&w=220&sz=21&tbnid=L515zhgbOeV2rM:&tbnh=92&tbnw=102&zoom=1&usg=__qJ2dgU9e_brtp4-D1fw7FIWvhLs=&docid=aFg9Nf_SetvRZM&sa=X&ei=WAGiUeH1JYqDywHjtICwAw&ved=0CDMQ9QEwAA&dur=129
The Bible teaches the 03
distinct persons of the Trinity.
John 01.01-02 “1 In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was w/God,
& the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning w/God.”
We see that John, under the
inspiration of the Holy Spirit tells us that the Word (Jesus) was w/God the
Father, & that the Word (Jesus) was God, but it doesn’t say that the Word
(Jesus) was the Father.
In what the Jews call the Shema
(which means “Hear”), which observant Jews consider the Shema to
be the most important part of the prayer service in Judaism. They hold the
Shema in such high esteem that they recite it 02 times every day. They recite
it once in the morning & once in the evening. For many, this is the very
first words that they say at the beginning of the day, & the very last
words that they utter at the end of the day.
In the Shema we
read:
Deuteronomy 06.04 “4 “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is
one!”
“Shema
Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu (El-o-hen-u)
Adonai Echad”
“4 one” H259. dxa ’echad ekh-awd'; a numeral from 0258; properly, united, i.e. one; or (as an ordinal) first:--
a, alike, alone, altogether, &, any(-thing), apiece, a certain, [dai-]ly,
each (one), + eleven, every, few, first, + highway, a man, once, one, only,
other, some, together.
H258. dxa ’achad aw-khad'; perhaps a primitive root; to unify, i.e. (figuratively)
collect (one's thoughts):-- go one way or other.
Literally this Hebrew word means
“many becoming 01”.
Jesus
boldly stated
John 10.30 “30 “I & the Father are one.””
“30 one”G1520. eiv
heis hice; (including the neuter
[etc.] en hen); a primary numeral; one:-- a(-n, -ny, certain), +
abundantly, man, one (another), only, other, some. See also 1527, 3367, 3391, 3762.
In the
Book of Revelation, we see that Jesus is referred to as the 1st
& the last, the Alpha & the Omega.
Revelation 01.08 “8 “I am the Alpha & the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who
is & who was & who is to come, the Almighty.””
We see
this used in the Book of Isaiah
Isaiah 44.06 “6 “Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel & his
Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I am the first & I am the last, And there is
no God besides Me.”
Paul mentions all 03 persons of
the Trinity:
2Corinthians 13.14 “14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, & the love
of God, & the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be w/you all.”
What makes the denial of the Trinity so
dangerous?
03.
Jesus was created (Arianism & modern day Jehovah’s Witnesses teach this),
coming into existence only at His birth in Bethlehem. Which means there is no
eternal Son.
04. If
God was manifested in Jesus when Jesus died on the cross, than who died?
Who bore the wrath of God for the sins of mankind? This doctrine destroys the teaching of the atonement work
of Jesus on the cross (Romans 05.10; 2Corinthians 05.18; Ephesians 01.04;
Ephesians 02.16; Colossians 01.22; Titus 02.14; Hebrews 10.10; Hebrews 13.20).
05. Now
that we are in this present age, according to modalism or oneness doctrine,
where God is now manifested in the Holy Spirit, who is Jesus appearing to as an mediator
& advocate before the Throne of God (1Timothy 02.05; Hebrews 07.25; Hebrews 08.06; Hebrews 09.15; Hebrews 12.24)?
06. Oneness theology denies the Son, & as such,
abandons the central truth of the CHRISTian faith. If you deny the Son, you
don’t have the Father & you don’t love the Father! (1John 02.22-24; 1John 05.01; 2John 01.09)
