Ezra 01.01-04 l STIRRING THE KINGS HEART

Today’s reading: Ezra 01.01-02.70

Ezra 01.01 “1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he sent a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying:”

The Book of Ezra was written by Ezra the priest (Kohen), who wanted to encourage the children of Israel to be worshiping in the Temple and to remind them that they ought to fulfill their covenant with God because He has been merciful to them.

In today's reading, Ezra records for us Cyrus’ Proclamation (Ezra 01.01-04), the vessels for the Temple restored (Ezra 01.05-11), and the list of those who returned from Babylon (Ezra 02.01-70).

The proclamation by Cyrus, King of Persia to rebuild the Temple of the LORD came because the LORD moved his heart (the LORD stirred up the spirit) to do it.

The first deportation if the Jews to Babylon was in 605BC. When Cyrus issued this proclamation, it was in 538BC, which was sixty-seven years later. By the time the Jews made the trip and rebuild the altar, the seventy years foretold by Jeremiah the prophet were almost up (Jeremiah 29.10; Jeremiah 25.11-12)!

This proclamation to rebuild was stirred by the LORD in fulfillment of what the LORD spoke through Jeremiah.

The LORD is in control of the hearts of those who are ruling, even those who do not acknowledge Him as LORD and Saviour.
Proverbs 21.01 “1 The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.”

This shows us that God’s will is sovereign even behind the events of history. The LORD is always in control, and when He says that something will happen, it will!

2Chronicles 34.18-19 l RESPONSE TO READING GOD’S WORD

Today’s reading: 2Chronicles 34.01-36.23

2Chronicles 34.18-19 “18 Moreover, Shaphan the scribe told the king saying, “Hilkiah the priest gave me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. 19 When the king heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes.”

The chronicler in today’s reading gives us the last years of the Southern Kingdom. We read about the reign and reformation of Josiah (2Chronicles 34.01-35.27), and the last three kings of the Southern Kingdom (2Chronicles 36.01-23).

Josiah ordered the Temple to be repaired (2Chronicles 34.08-13), and in the restoration process, Hilkiah the priest (Kohen) found a copy of the book of the Law of Moses (2Chronicles 34.14-17). Many commentaries and the like debate whether this was the Torah (A.K.A. the Pentateuch-the first five books of the Bible, Genesis-Deuteronomy), or just the Book of Deuteronomy.

When Shaphan the scribe gave Josiah an update on the progress of the Temple restoration, he also told him that Hilkiah found a copy of the Law, and read a portion from it. Realizing the significance of the passage that was read to him, Josiah tore his robes, which was an expression of great grief (2Chronicles 34.18-19). Immediately, Josiah asked that the entire Law be studied and to determine what the will of the LORD is (2Chronicles 34.20-22).

They found out that the LORD was going to bring judgment upon the land according to the curses that were written in the newly discovered scroll (probably included Deuteronomy 28.15-68 or Leviticus 26.14-39). The judgment would be delayed until after Josiah’s death because of the Godly sorrow and repentance of Josiah (2Chronicles 34.23-28; Romans 02.04; 2Corinthians 07.09-11).

2Chronicles 32-33 l PRIDE AND HUMILTY

Today’s reading: 2Chronicles 31-33

2Chronicles 32.26 “26 However, Hezekiah humbled the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.”

2Chronicles 33.12 “12 When he was in distress, he entreated the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.”

2Chronicles 33.23 “23 Moreover, he did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had done, but Amon multiplied guilt.”

In todays reading, the chronicler finishes the reign of Hezekiah (2Chronicles 31-32), the fifty-five year reign of Manasseh (2Chronicles 32.01-20) and the brief two-year reign of Amon (2Chronicles 33.21-25).

The LORD delivered Hezekiah and the Southern Kingdom from a perilous situation, (2Chronicles 32.01-22; 2Kings 19.20-35).

After this great deliverance, Hezekiah’s heart was filled with pride (2Chronicles 32.25) and thus incurred the wrath of the LORD on him as well as on the Southern Kingdom (2Chronicles 32.26). Sin affects others!

Manasseh was an evil wicked man, went back to the apostate false religious system of his grandfather Ahaz, even so much as sacrificing his sons (2Chronicles 28.03-04; 2Chronicles 33.01-09).

Because of the apostasy of Manasseh and the Southern Kingdom, the LORD punished them by using Assyria to come down and bound Manasseh and brought him to Babylon (2Chronicles 33.10-11). But like his father (and unlike his grandfather), Manasseh repented before the LORD and soon was allowed back to his own land and people (2Chronicles 33.12-13)!

The third king we are looking at today is Amon. We are told that he did evil in the sight of the LORD like his father Manasseh did (2Chronicles 33.22). He copied his father in all of his father’s idolatry, but he did not copy his father and grandfathers humility and repent of his sinful pride (2Chronicles 33.23).

Proverbs 16.18-20 “18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling. 19 It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly Than to divide the spoil with the proud. 20 He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.”

2Chronicles 29.01-04 l REVERSE THE CURSE

Today’s reading: 2Chronicles 28-30

2Chronicles 29.01-04 “1 Hezekiah became king when he was twenty-five years old; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 2 He did right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done. 3 In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of the LORD and repaired them. 4 He brought in the priests and the Levites and gathered them into the square on the east.”

In todays reading, the chronicler records for us the apostate reign of Ahaz (2Chronicles 28) as well as one of the Southern Kingdom’s (Judah) greatest kings, Hezekiah (2Chronicles 29-30; 2Kings 18.05-06).

Ahaz, the father of Hezekiah led the Southern Kingdom into further apostasy, going so far as to robbing the Temple of its treasures (2Chronicles 28.21), sacrificing to false idols (2Chronicles 28.23), and closing the doors of the Temple (2Chronicles 28.24)!

So when Hezekiah became king, instead of continuing on in the sins of his father, he did what was right in the sight of the LORD (2Chronicles 29.02), opened the doors to the Temple (2Chronicles 29.03), restored the priesthood (2Chronicles 29.04), and led a complete reformation in the Southern Kingdom.

Under the leadership of Ahaz, the Southern Kingdom fell into further apostasy; the result was that they were punished by God and thus fulfilling the curses placed on the nation on Mount Ebal for forsaking the LORD (Deuteronomy 11.29; Deuteronomy 28.25, 41; Joshua 08.33-35).

Under the leadership of Hezekiah, he restored the Southern Kingdom back to the LORD, recognized that his father helped lead the nation into turning their backs on the LORD, thus justifying the punishment of the LORD on them (2Chronicles 29.06-09).

But when Solomon dedicated the Temple, part of his prayer of dedication was that if the people repented of their sins, that the LORD would hear from heaven and forgive them and restore them (2Chronicles 06.24-40).

The LORD honored the prayer of Hezekiah, and restored the Southern Kingdom back to where they needed to be spiritually. The LORD is ALWAYS FAITHFUL to His Word!

2Chronicles 26.16-23 l UZZIAH’S UNDOING

Today’s reading: 2Chronicles 25-27

2Chronicles 26.16 “16 But when he became strong, his heart was so proud that he acted corruptly, and he was unfaithful to the LORD his God, for he entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.”

In todays reading, the chronicler tells us about the reigns of Amaziah (2Chronicles 25), Uzziah (2Chronicles 26), and Jotham (2Chronicles 27).

Uzziah was a great man who accomplished a lot in his reign of fifty-two years (2Chronicles 26.01-15). He is mentioned as Azariah in 2Kings 15.01.

The pride of Uzziah was his undoing, as it is for many people (Proverbs 16.18; Proverbs 18.12).

Uzziah’s pride went so far that he thought that he could go into the Temple of the LORD and offer incense in the Temple. This was a job that was only for the priests (Kohanim) descended from Aaron from the tribe of Levi (Exodus 30.07-08).

Azariah the priest (Kohen) and eighty priests (Kohanim) withstood King Uzziah (2Chronicles 26.16-18). Uzziah was enraged at this, but the rebuke by the priests (Kohanim) was justified and seen visibly by the leprosy that broke out on his forehead (2Chronicles 26.19).

The leprosy made King Uzziah ceremonially unclean, and he had to leave the Temple immediately (2Chronicles 26.19-20; Leviticus 13).

Pride has been the undoing of many a great man (1John 02.16).
1John 02.16 “16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”

God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble (Psalm 138.06; Proverbs 03.34; Matthew 23.12; James 04.06; 1Peter 05.05).

Titus 01.10-16 | Expo$e Fal$e Teacher$ (Dominion Theology) pt03 (03. Modern Day Dominionism)

Titus 01.10-16 “10 For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers & deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain. 12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish myths & commandments of men who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled & unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind & their conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable & disobedient & worthless for any good deed.”

So this morning we will be looking at the threat of Dominion Theology. 01. Dominionism Defined; 02. The Roots of Dominionism 03. Modern Day Dominionism

03. Modern Day Dominionism
This movement gained a lot of traction in the first 04 years of the Obama Presidency (2009-2012), especially in the last couple of year leading to the recent presidential election (2012).

We saw this w/the rise of the Tea Party movement & many other reclaiming America movements that have come about recently.

Now, I want to be clear, there is nothing wrong w/being concerned for the state of America & where we are headed as a nation.

But where there is concern, is when CHRISTians replace a commitment & devotion to the Word of God for commitment & devotion to a Dominionist program.

By doing this, more & more CHRISTians are actually helping to buy into the plan of the world & what is foretold in Revelation 13 about establishing a 01 World Government & 01 World Religion.

Remember, the purpose of Dominion Theology is to ultimately establish a utopia of God’s Kingdom here on earth, which must be done before the Return of Jesus. Man-centered, man-accomplished.
Dominion Theology can be summed up in 03 points:
01. Satan usurped man’s dominion over the earth through the temptation & sin of Adam & Eve.
02. The Church is God’s instrument to take dominion back from Satan
03. Jesus cannot or will not return until the Church has taken dominion by gaining control of the earth’s governmental & social institutions.

They believe that the Return of Jesus will be spiritual (much like the Jehovah’s Witnesses), instead of being a bodily physical of Jesus. This of course contradicts Scripture, the “inspired by God” (2Timothy 03.16), God-breathed (θεόπνευστος theopneustos), Word of God.
Zechariah 12.10 “10 “I will pour out on the house of David & on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace & of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; & they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, & they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.”

Matthew 24.30 “30 “And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, & then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, & they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY w/power & great glory.” (Mark 13.26; Luke 21.27)

1John 03.02 “2 Beloved, now we are children of God, & it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.”

Revelation 01.07 “7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, & every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; & all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.”

When Jesus comes back, it will be a visible return, wearing a robe & on His thigh it will be written:
Revelation 19.16 “16 And on His robe & on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

When Jesus does physically & visibly come back, God the Father will give Jesus dominion of the earth:
Daniel 07.13-14 “13 “I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, w/the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him. 14 “And to Him was given dominion, Glory & a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations & men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.”

There are many groups that claim to be CHRISTian, but are into Dominion Theology, & many, many CHRISTians are climbing on board.

Knowing this let it be a reminder for us as CHRISTians to be careful who we align ourselves with, & to make sure that we don’t put the flag above the cross.

Here are some of the groups/people that we need to be aware of.

-The Seven Mountains of Culture
According to this group, they say that God gave 03 men a vision.
Loren Cunnigham (founder of YWAM), Bill Bright (founder of Campus Crusade for Christ) & FrancisSchaeffer (Theologian & founder of L’Abri).

Os Hillman is featured prominently in this movement, & writes a daily email devotional. Os Hillman teaches a workshop called The Change Agent Intensive Workshop.

The best way to describe this group & what they are trying to accomplish is w/a video that they have.

Notice, bringing the Kingdom of Christ here onto the Earth (New Age teaching of “As Above, So Below”), talking about generational curses (which is pagan in its roots, we are new in Christ (2Corinthians 05.17), we are to “…press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works & of faith toward God,” (Hebrews 06.01).

Many who are into Dominion Theology are also in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), which is part of Word of Faith, & they are rallying CHRISTians from all over the USA to unite to take over the country for Jesus.

This is why the Tea Party group & organizations like Wallbuilders, founded by DavidBarton are so popular among the church.

There is a lot to be said about David Barton, but he is off theologically as well as historically. He talks fast, shows a bunch of documents & seems someone who can be trusted.

He continues to align himself w/the New Age Mormon Glenn Beck, even go so far as saying that Glenn Beck is a CHRISTian!

This movement of reclaiming the 07 mountains is essentially a lust for power, & not Biblical.

Jesus said:
Matthew 20.25-28 “25 But Jesus called them to Himself & said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, & their great men exercise authority over them. 26 “It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, 27 & whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, & to give His life a ransom for many.”

They believe that they are being salt & light (Matthew 05.13) by building an actual kingdom for God, & they believe it will be accomplished by taking control of these 07 mountains.

Specific people to be aware of
Former presidential candidate Rick Perry was heavily involved w/those into Dominionism.

On August 06, 2011, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, Rick Perry took part in a rally called The Response.

Some of the people that were involved w/this rally were Mike Bickle, Cindy Jacobs as well as C.Peter Wagner, who all are Dominionist in their theology.

Mike Bickle, came out of the Kansas City Prophets, & heads the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City is very influential in this movement.

Mike Bickle says that John G. Lake has influenced him “more than any man other than Jesus”.

The book, The Complete Works of John G. Lake is available to buy at International House Of Prayer.

Mike Bickle believes in raising the dead, as well as many other Dominionist teachings.

Lou Engle one of the leaders in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR).

Tony Perkins, who is the head of FamilyResearch Council, has been involved w/Lou Engle & others of the Word of Faith & those who espouse Dominion Theology.

Cindy Jacobs one of the leaders in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)

RickJoyner one of the leaders in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) & founded The Oak Initiative.

One of his board members is Lt. General Jerry Boykin, a former member of the Delta Force & once was the head of the Green Berets.

Both Joyner & Boykin are members of a Roman Catholic ecumenical order known as the KnightsHospitallers of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights of MaltaThe Ecumenical Order. Boykin is the Grand Chancellor & Joyner is a Supreme Council Member of the Knights of Malta. The Vatican sanctions this order, & a special blessing from the Virgin Mary is attributed to it.

Ecumenical is a term that is used by the Roman Catholic Church that means: “the absorption of all Christian groups that have “broken away” from the Mother Church back to it”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_&_ecumenism

He reinstalled “prophet” Todd Bentley, who earlier had cheated on his wife, & than left his wife & kids for this woman.

C. Peter Wagner who originally became known for his studies on church growth, is one of the leaders & founders of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR).

When asked what would be a hindrance to accomplishing Dominion Theology & the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), C. Peter Wagner said:
“…a commitment to tradition amongst ministers.” Wagner states: “I think that some are bound by religious forms & functions that are ineffective & I think in many cases it is demonic influence.” http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/orrel3.html

Basically, he is saying that Christians & pastors who teach the Word of God contextually (A text w/o acontext is a pretext for a proof text.-D.A. Carson) are the biggest hindrance to Dominion Theology & the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR).

Not only are we the biggest hindrance, but also he has the nerve to say that we are under demonic influence for taking the Word of God verse by verse in context!

Wagner taught for many years at Fuller Theological Seminary, which is the seminary that Rick Warren went to. Rick Warren listed Wagner on his doctoral thesis as being his “Advisor/mentor.”

Dominionism Theology is found as well in The National Day of Prayer organization, which is highly influenced by Dominionist teachings.

On The National Day of Prayer website http://nationaldayofprayer.org/about/what-is-prayer/, under the title of “What is Prayer?” it says this:
With your imagination, see your prayers as answered…

Warfare: (Psalm 149:6–9). This is prayer directed against the powers of darkness. Our praises to God are also a weapon directed against the powers of darkness (demons, fallen angels who are at work in the affairs of the world & the church). We pronounce against them the written judgment by reading the Scriptures of judgment against them (Psalm 149:9), we command them to be bound or to leave their positions of influence or authority in the name of Jesus. (Matthew 16:19; Mark 16:17).

Matthew 16.19 is the seemingly go to passage that many New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) & Word of Faith teachers use to justify fighting against demons & binding Satan.
Matthew 16.19 “19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; & whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, & whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.””

Binding & loosing to the Jew signified to prohibit & to permit, or to teach what is lawful or unlawful.

Under the section of “Why pray?” on The National Day of Prayer website http://nationaldayofprayer.org/about/what-is-prayer/:
We pray because…it is necessary for men to invite God to act in salvation. God gave the earth to Adam & his descendants. We must invite God to work here. If no one invites God to work here, Satan (the god of this world through man’s universal rebellion—2 Corinthians 4:4) will dominate the affairs of men & eventually the judgment of God will come. By inviting God often & specifically, multitudes can be saved that would otherwise be lost.

2Corinthians 04.04 “4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

WOW! What heresy! Nowhere in the Bible do we find that “…it is necessary for men to invite God to act in salvation.”
Salvation is a work of God, not man! Also, nowhere do we read in the Bible where the salvation of the lost has anything to do w/the church overthrowing Satan’s dominion.

The Bible says that it’s going to get worse, not better!
1Timothy 04.01 “1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits & doctrines of demons,”

2Timothy 03.01-09 “1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, w/o self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those who enter into households & captivate weak women weighed down w/sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning & never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes & Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9 But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s & Jambres’s folly was also.”

2Timothy 03.13 “13 But evil men & impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving & being deceived.”

2Peter 03.03 “3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come w/their mocking, following after their own lusts,”

Paul was very clear that we are not to have anything to do w/those who say they are of the faith but instead preach “another Gospel” (Romans 16.17-18; 2Corinthians 11.13-15; Titus 03.10)
Romans 16.17-18 “17 Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions & hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, & turn away from them. 18 For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; & by their smooth & flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”

“17 keep your eye” G4648. skopew skopeo skop-eh'-o; from 4649; to take aim at (spy), i.e. (figuratively) regard:-- consider, take heed, look at (on), mark. Compare 3700.

Thayer-to look at, observe, to mark, to fix one’s eyes upon, direct one’s attention to

Paul was saying here that we are to scope out false teachers who teach that is against the Word of God & turn away from them!

2Corinthians 11.13-15 “13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.”

Titus 03.10 “10 Reject a factious man after a first & second warning,”

False teaching leads to false living. Theological error always leads to moral failure.

Titus 01.10-16 | Expo$e Fal$e Teacher$ (Dominion Theology) pt03 (02. The Roots of Dominionism)

So this morning we will be looking at the threat of Dominion Theology. 01. Dominionism Defined; 02. The Roots of Dominionism 03. Modern Day Dominionism

02. The Roots of Dominionism
John G. Lake (March 18, 1870–September 16, 1935)

John G. Lake promoted the concept of healing rooms, which is completely a man-made invention.

Healing rooms were actually started by Alexander Dowie, who was JohnG. Lake’s mentor.

Jesus & the early apostles never set up healing rooms for people to come to receive prayer & get healed.

Now, you might say: “What about what James says about the sick going to the elders of the church?”

James 05.14-15 “14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church & they are to pray over him, anointing him w/oil in the name of the Lord; 15 & the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, & the Lord will raise him up, & if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.”

The Greek word that is used for “sick” in James 05.14 is G770. asyenew astheneo as-then-eh'-o literally means “to be weak”, to be w/o strength.

This word is used at times throughout the Gospels for physical sicknesses, but most of the time, especially in the Book of Acts & the Epistles, the word is used to describe one who is “weak in the faith” or someone who is “weak morally or theologically” (Acts 20.35; Romans 06.19; Romans 14.01; 1Corinthians 08.09-12).

Plus the Greek word that is used for “sick” in James 05.15 is G2577. kamnw kamno kam'-no literally means “to be weary”. The only other time that this word is used in the New Testament is in Hebrews 12.03 & is used in the same context, of 01 being tired, weary, worn out.
Hebrews 12.03 “3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary & lose heart.”

So in context, when James wrote these 02 verses, he was writing to those who had grown weary, those who had become weak both morally & spiritually in the midst of their suffering.

It was to be these people who were to call for the help of the elders of the church.

The elders of the church were to help the weak…
1Thessalonians 05.14 “14 We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient w/everyone.”

When James said that the elders are to anoint them w/oil, the Greek word for “14 anoint” is G218. aleifw aleipho al-i'-fo which means to literally rub w/oil, & not ceremonially anoint.

So James is not suggesting a ceremonial anointing as a way of healing from God, but instead he is referring to the common practice of the day of using oil as refreshment & for grooming purposes (Matthew 06.17; Luke 07.38 & Luke 07.46).

James was telling those who were weak spiritually or physically because of the suffering in their life, & the elders who be able to encourage them, uplift & even encourage by rubbing oil on their heads.

Modern day Dominion Theology didn’t really get its start until William Branham, but many of the beliefs can be seen in the writings of John G. Lake.

For example: Look at what John G. Lake said in what is known as the Little Gods Doctrine.

“The power of God, the Holy Ghost, is the Spirit of Dominion. It makes one a god.” (p13)

“I want you to hear what Jesus said about himself. God was in Christ, wasn’t He? An incarnation. God is in you, an incarnation, if you were born again. You are incarnate.” (p196)

“God’s purpose through Jesus Christ is to deify the nature of men.” (p304)

Obviously all of these statements from John G. Lake are false! Salvation does not make a person a god. True, the Holy Spirit does come inside of us at salvation, but we do not become an incarnation in the same way that Jesus was God incarnate.

This is what John G. Lake said about what we now know as Dominion Theology.
“Beloved, God is calling men & women to a holier consecration, to a higher place in God, & I am one of God’s candidates for that holy place in God. I want to get to the throne of God…And that is the experience that is going to make the sons of God in the world. That is the reason that they will take the world for Jesus Christ, & the Kingdom will be established, & they will put the crown on the Son of God, & declare him, ‘King of kings & Lord of lords’”. (IBID p510)

This is what John G. Lake said about Communication w/the Dead.
“Listen it is not dragging spirits up, & it isn’t dragging some spirits down. There is nothing about calling spirits down from God in the Word; only calling them up from the depths.” (IBID p122)

He also gives an account of his deceased wife speaking to him through a woman, what we would call “Channeling” today…
“She arose from her chair, her eyes quite shut, & came in my direction. I got up & moved my chair. She walked right around & came to me. She slipped her fingers down, gave me a little chuck just like my late wife would have done, & said, ‘Jack, my Jack, God is w/you all the time. Go right on. But my baby, my Teddy, I am so lonesome for him, but you pray so hard, you pray so hard.’” (IBID p133)

William Branham is often quoted or referred to very highly, but many don’t know his doctrine.

In a book that has a chapter that looks favorably upon William Branham, we see the following list of William Branham’s doctrines:

-He taught that the doctrine of the Trinity was a doctrine of demons.
-He taught that belonging to any denomination was the mark of the beast
-He believed that the words that he spoke would begin to literally transform the bodies of his listeners into glorified bodies ready for the rapture. Because of this teaching, & others, he is regarded as the originator of Dominion theology.
-He taught the serpent seed doctrine, which states that Eve had sex w/the devil, which produced Cain leading to a soul-less race of people, destined to be forever, be condemned.
-He had an extremely low view of women. He taught that men could divorce as often as they wished as long as they married a virgin. A woman cutting her hair was grounds for divorce according to him. He even stated in 01 sermon that he thought women weren’t worth the price of a clean bullet to kill them.
-He denied the eternity of hell
-He taught that all disease was demonic
-He taught that the destruction of the USA would begin in 1977
-He taught that healings would be lost if a person quit believing.

This is a movement that was denounced by the General Council of the Assemblies of God USA in 1949!
