This is similar to what Paul called Timothy in…
1 Timothy 01.02 “2
To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy & peace from God the Father &
Christ Jesus our Lord.”
By calling both Timothy & Titus his “children in the
faith” seems to suggest that Paul was the one who led them to a saving faith in
Jesus.
Titus was a young man who had
spent a lot of time w/Paul, traveling & ministering together.

men by the bonds of love, friendship, trust, just as between parents &
children. The pupils or disciples are called children of their teachers,
because the latter by their instruction nourish the minds of their pupils &
mould their characters…in affectionate address
Titus 01.04 “4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace &

This is what we all should want, not only for ourselves but
those whom we love…that they may have grace to help

Grace is getting what you don’t deserve…saved by grace
Ephesians 02.08-09
“8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; & that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9
not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
2Timothy 01.09 “9
who has saved us & called us w/a holy calling, not according to our works,
but according to His own purpose & grace which was granted us in Christ
Jesus from all eternity,”
Mercy is NOT getting what you deserve…which is Hell, & we get that by the provision of our
Saviour!
John 03.16 “16 “For God so
loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
See also (Romans 05.07-08; 1Peter 02.24; 1Peter 03.18: 1John 03.16)
Peace comes only from knowing the Prince of Peace.
Romans 05.01 “1
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace w/God through our Lord
Jesus Christ,”
Philippians 04.07
“7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your
hearts & your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Thayer-to the
Messiah, & Jesus as the Messiah, through whom God gives salvation
1John 05.14 “14 This is the confidence which we have before Him,
that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
James tells us that God is the
giver of all good gifts…
James 01.17 “17 Every good thing given & every perfect gift is
from above, coming down from the Father of lights, w/whom there is no variation
or shifting shadow.”
We have seen here that Paul
would agree w/James, stating that God is the giver of all good gifts. He has
given us grace, mercy, peace, as well as His only Son to be our Saviour!
