Trust The Great I AM

Now in our daily reading (Exodus04-06) we see the Preparation of Moses.

Exodus 4:1 “1 Then Moses said, “What if they will not believe me or listen to what I say? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’””

Moses goes to Egypt, & immediately begins to doubt his calling.

Exodus04.02-09 So the LORD immediately gives him some sign that prove the Moses is the man God has chosen. His staff turns into a snake & back into a staff, hand turns leprous & then cleansed, & the Nile turning to blood.

Exodus04.10-17 So then Moses finds something else to give doubt to his calling. He saws again (to the LORD) that he in not an eloquent speaker. Stephen tells us that Moses was a good speaker in Acts07.22! So the LORD reminds Moses that He is the one who created man’s mouth & can teach Moses what to say. The LORD was very angry w/Moses & sent Aaron, Moses’ brother to be his speaker.

So because Moses forgot that the LORD is “I AM”. Remember from yesterdays post I mentioned the loose translation I came up w/from Exodus03.14, but to also substitute your name for Moses?

Ex03.14 “I Am that I Am. I Am the self∙existent one. I Am everything & anything you will ever need. GEOFF, it doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t matter what you have or don’t have. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, where you find yourself now, or where I send you in the future. Nothing else matters, GEOFF. If I Am w/you, you have everything & anything you will ever need.”

He has forgotten that when the LORD calls us, He will take care of every detail of every single call.

Exodus05 Moses’ first encounter w/Pharaoh. Because of this, Pharaoh thinks that the Jews have too much time on their hands & decides to make life harder for them by not providing straw, yet making them still match their quota of bricks for the day that they were to make!

Exodus 5:7 “7 “You are no longer to give the people straw to make brick as previously; let them go & gather straw for themselves.”
Putting straw in the making of bricks prevented the bricks from cracking!

Exodus 5:19-21 “19 The foremen of the sons of Israel saw that they were in trouble because they were told, “You must not reduce your daily amount of bricks.” 20 When they left Pharaoh’s presence, they met Moses & Aaron as they were waiting for them. 21 They said to them, “May the LORD look upon you & judge you, for you have made us odious in Pharaoh’s sight & in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us.””

The foremen were upset because the people were upset. So they blamed Moses & Aaron. If this had been an easy task for Moses to do, Moses would not have had to talk & depend on the LORD as much as he had to during this time.

I believe that God allows trials in our lives so that we will spend more time w/Him.

When was the last time you spent time w/the LORD? When was the last time you spent time w/the LORD, but not on a Sunday at church? When was the last time you spent time in the Bible reading & studying, & not at church? When was the last time you prayed, not at church & not before a meal, test, or hardship in your life?

God allows these things to happen to us to draw us closer to Him. Remember that He is “I Am”. He is everything & anything you will ever need. Trust HIM!
