The Tabernacle part02

Now in our daily reading (Exodus28-30) we see the priestly clothes, the consecration of the priests, & the sacrifices of the priests.

Remember, everything in the Tabernacle speaks of either the work or person of Christ.
Blue, purple, scarlet/red, gold, bronze, red, silver & white are the major colors of the Tabernacle.

Blue is the color of the sky & reminds us of Heaven & the God of Heaven & that Christ came from Heaven.
Purple is a blending of Blue & Scarlet, the color of royalty, speaking of Christ the King.
Scarlet/Red makes us think of blood & the sacrifice of the Saviour.
Gold is the color representing the deity of God.
Bronze is the color of judgment
Silver speaks of redemption.
White reminds us of the Holiness of God.

Exodus28.01-14 The Clothes of the High Priest

An ephod is a robe like garment worn.

The 02 onyx stones were actually to attach this ephod here at the shoulders. On these onyx stone were the names of the tribes of Israel, so that whenever the priest would go before God, he was always bearing the names of the tribes of Israel.

Whenever he would go before God bearing the onyx stones there on his shoulders, the tribes of Israel would be there.

Exodus28.15-30 The Breastplate of the High Priest

There was to be a golden chain holding the breastplate over his chest & there were 12 stones that had a different tribe engraved on each stone.

Not only was the High Priest bearing the names of the tribes of Israel on his shoulders before the LORD, but also over his heart.

Urim & Thummin=Lights & perfections. Not much is known of these 02 stones except that they were used in some sort of way to determine the will of God.
1Samuel28.06 “When Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by prophets.”

1Samuel30.07-08 “Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David. David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this band? Shall I overtake them?” And He said to him, “Pursue, for you will surely overtake them, & you will surely rescue all.”

Exodus28.31-35 The Ephod of the High Priest
The ephod was to be all blue. On the bottom of the ephod there was alternating a golden bell & then a pomegranate all around the hem.

The purpose was that when he went into the Holy of Holies, the people outside could hear him walking around. No one could go into the Holy of Holies except the high priest, plus if the High Priest had any unconfessed sin in his life, when he came into the presence of God he was struck dead!

Exodus28.36-39 The High Priests Turban

On the turban there was to be a little piece of gold that had engraved on it “Holy to the LORD”.

Exodus28.40-43 The Clothes of the Priests
So the robes of the priests were all to be made out of linen. No priest was allowed to wear wool because wool causes you to sweat, & God doesn’t want them to sweat.

Exodus29.01-09 Consecration of the Priests
So this was setting them apart for service unto the LORD, putting the clothes on them & anointing them w/oil.

Exodus29.10-30 The Sacrifices for the Priests
(Exodus29.20-21) The blood was placed upon Aaron & his sons on the tip of their right ear, on their right thumb, & on their big toe of their right foot.

This was to symbolize that they are to consecrate their ears to hear to hear the voice of God.
This was to symbolize that they are to consecrate their hands to do the work of God.
This was to symbolize that they are to consecrate my feet to walk in the path of God.

Exodus29.31-46 Food For The Priests
The sacrifices that were brought by the people to God which allowed the priests to eat.

Exodus30.01-16 The Altar of Incense
This altar was inside of the Holy Place, right in front of the veil that led into the Holy of Holies.

Burning incense is a picture of prayer.
Revelation08.03-04 “Another angel came & stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; & much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, w/the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.”

They were to have this continually burning, symbolizing that we are to always be praying unto God.
1Thessalonians05.17 “pray w/o ceasing;”

Exodus30.17-21 The Laver
This was basically a large bathtub. By washing themselves, it symbolized that they were coming clean before God. If they didn’t wash, they would die!!

Exodus30.22-33 The Anointing Oil God gives them instructions how to make the oil, as well as how they are to use it. Oil symbolizes the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Exodus30.34-38 The Incense
God gives them instructions how to make the incense that was to be burned continuously.
