Battle of the Gods p01

Now in our daily reading (Exodus07-09) we see the beginning of the Battle of the Gods.

We know that this is judgment against the false gods of Egypt by what God said in…

Exodus 12:12 “12 ‘For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, & will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man & beast; & against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments--I am the LORD.”

So here we see the first 07 Plagues & each Egyptian god that Yahweh proved that He was better than.

We become like the gods that we worship…

Psalms 135:18 “18 Those who make them will be like them, Yes, everyone who trusts in them.”

Now you might say: “Geoff, I don’t worship Apis or Osiris or all these other crazy gods?”

The Biblical definition of an idol is anything that comes between you & God. It is also anything that you spend most of your time on or with. It is something that you think that you cannot live w/o.

We have many gods…our desire for money or fame. Television shows, Facebook, the Internet. Parents, what about your children? Would you be willing to put them on the altar like Abraham did w/Isaac (Ge22)?

Without realizing it, we have many things that come between God & us. God will allow things to happen to us in our lives to get us to realize He is God. He ALONE is God!
