Now in our daily reading (Genesis13-15) we are going to focus on Abram going back to Bethel.
Genesis 13:3, 4 “3 He went on his journeys from the Negev as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4 to the place of the altar which he had made there formerly; and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.”
What we saw yesterday is that everyday we have the choice to go to Bethel (the House of God) & Ai (place of ruin & destruction).
Reading further yesterday, we saw that when a famine struck, Abram went down to Egypt. Egypt is a picture of the world throughout the Bible. Going down always symbolizes going away from the LORD.
What we see here is that when you stray, or have fallen back into sin. The best thing to do is go back to Bethel, to the House of God, where you last heard from the LORD.
1 John 1:9 “9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Call on His name again, for He will hear you.
Psalms 5:3 “3 In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.”
He sees all that we do…
Proverbs 5:21 “21 For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He watches all his paths.”
Go back to Bethel!
