Now in our daily reading (Genesis37-39) we are going to be focusing on Joseph.
Joseph sold to Potiphar who the Bible tells us was the “captain of the bodyguard”. The Captain of the Bodyguard was an important position in Egypt, for it meant that Potiphar was the chief executioner! How would you like him to be your boss?
But notice the next set of verses…
Genesis 39:2-6 “2 The LORD was w/Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. 3 Now his master saw that the LORD was w/him & how the LORD caused all that he did to prosper in his hand. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight & became his personal servant; & he made him overseer over his house, & all that he owned he put in his charge. 5 It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house & over all that he owned, the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house on account of Joseph; thus the LORD’S blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house & in the field. 6 So he left everything he owned in Joseph’s charge; & w/him there he did not concern himself w/anything except the food which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form & appearance.”
The LORD was w/Joseph, & Potiphar become blessed because the LORD was w/Joseph.
Is your employer blessed because the LORD is w/you? Are your co-workers blessed because the LORD is w/you?
Even though he was later thrown into prison, Joseph refused to compromise. He was falsely accused of rape, yet he refused to given in to temptation.
Look what our text says now…
Genesis 39:21-23 “21 But the LORD was w/Joseph & extended kindness to him, & gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer. 22 The chief jailer committed to Joseph’s charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it. 23 The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph’s charge because the LORD was w/him; & whatever he did, the LORD made to prosper.”
So again, we that the LORD is w/Joseph! You can be falsely accused, & yet the LORD is w/you!
Notice as well that being in prison falsely accused of rape didn’t deter Joseph from still trusting the LORD!
Wherever you are at, good times or bad times, as a follower of the LORD, He is w/you. Don’t fret, don’t fear, He is here!
The LORD is w/ you, are you w/Him?
Are others blessed because the LORD is w/you?
