Ezra 07.10 “10 For Ezra
had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.”
In todays reading, Ezra records
that Tattenai’s plan backfires and King Darius finds the proclamation of King
Cyrus many years before (Ezra 05.06-17; Ezra 06.01-12),
the Temple completed and the Jews celebrated Passover for the first time in
seventy years (Ezra 06.13-22). Ezra than introduces himself and tells us of the kings
kindness towards him (Ezra 07.01-28).
Ezra gives us his lineage, showing
that he is a direct descendent of Aaron (Ezra 07.01-05). We are told that he was
in Babylon and that “…he was a scribe
skilled in the law of Moses…” Ezra
07.06. This literally means that he was a man who
was exceptionally gifted in expounding on the Law of Moses.
Why was he gifted in this area?
Because he was a minister who “…set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice
it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.” Ezra 07.10.
01. He set (or prepared) his heart to study the law of the
LORD (Psalm
01.02)
02. He was literally a doer of the Word (James 01.22)
Because he diligently studied and was obedient to the Law,
he then was qualified to:
03. He taught the Word (Psalm 19.07; Psalm 119.45; Psalm 19.96-100;
1Timothy
03.02; 2Timothy 04.02; Titus 02.01; Titus 02.15)

ReplyDelete"The signs are obvious, they are everywhere
All that we hear about is the gloom and despair
Too many would be prophets saying
"Its the end of it all"
Cause mother earth cant take much more
The hammers gonna fall
So nature has its needs, thats a lesson learned
But it appears to me there are greater concerns
Cause we can save the planet
Thinkin we will somehow survive
But father time is calling us
To save somebodys life
Chorus:
So I wont bend and I wont break
I wont water down my faith
I wont compromise in a world of desperation
What has been I cannot change
But for tomorrow and today
I must be a light for future generations"
Psalm 18 Matthew 28:30
