Job 16.19 l MY WITNESS IN HEAVEN

Today’s reading: Job 13.01-16.22

Job 16.19 “19 “Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.”

In today’s reading, we see Job continuing on with his reply to Zophar (Job 12.01-14.22). In Job 15.01-21.34 we have recorded for us the second round of speeches. Eliphaz begins the second round by saying that Job presumes much and he explains what he has experienced in life (Job 15.01-35). Than in Job 16.01-22 we see Job’s second speech and his disgust with his friends.

Job knew that his mediator (see THERE IS A MEDIATOR post) was in heaven. How blessed it was for Job to know that while going through life’s difficulties, he had a mediator. One who could be the go-between between him and God, because these three friends of his were worthless and miserable comforters (Job 16.01-05)!

Our LORD and Saviour interceded on behalf of all mankind by taking our place on the cross, and is mediating daily for us at the right hand of God (Isaiah 53.12; Luke 23.34; Romans 08.34; 1Timothy 02.05; Hebrews 07.25; Hebrews 08.06; Hebrews 09.15; Hebrews 09.24; Hebrews 12.24; 1John 02.01-02; 1John 02.12).
